Click to Learn MoreIf you are a woman in the Sanford area looking for a ministry that will build you up in The Lord, encourage you to run this race, and remind you of your value, then you must encounter the D.I.V.A.S. women’s ministry at New Life Word Center.

The acronym stands for women who are Destined, Invincible/Intelligent, Victorious, Anointed, Sister’s in Christ.  D.I.V.A.S women’s ministry was birthed out of prayer,15 years ago, by First Lady Patricia Merthie.  At the time, First Lady Merthie was burdened with the need of women to be built up, encouraged, and told of their value.  She instinctively believed this ministry was to begin by gathering the women who where close to her: sisters, nieces, girl friends, daughters and granddaughters for fellowship and personal ministry.  She thought the delay of the D.I.V.A.S. was due to unpreventable circumstances, but little did she know God was working His plan according to His timing.

One of those circumstances was the loss of her first husband in 2009.  It was in February of 2011 that God began to speak to her spirit again that she was to minister to women. The call was clear.  She would speak confidence to the insecure, boldness to the fearful, soundness of mind to the tormented, and humility to the prideful.  God called her to minister to the total woman.   God’s master plan was in action, and in September of 2011 she would marry Dr. R.W. Merthie, the Pastor of New Life Word Center.

As she walked into the role of First Lady, God redirected her back to the D.I.V.A.S. and it was at that time the vision for this unique women’s ministry was realized and manifested. The D.I.V.A.S. gather for prayer vigils, Wisdom Speaks (a journey through the book of Proverbs), mother/daughter legacy weekend, Discovering the Queen in You (annual gathering) and Jesus is Calling (group devotional).

As a result of the women who engage in this ministry, marriages are stronger,  families are united, and purpose is revealed.  Women are discovering their value, worth,  and purpose in the Kingdom of God. So anytime you’re in the area, please know that you’re invited to worship with us and receive a rich word from God, loving arms around you and pure fellowship to help you grow in Christ.
